Creating a Post
// create a new post (NEWS, EVENTS etc.)
On your website admin go to POSTS and Add New
1. Add a title
Write something interesting and short. So you can easily discern what it pertains to.
2. Set the post format
Select Image.
This will display the post with an IMAGE above the headline as seen here
3. Select your category
This determines where the post will show up on the website. If you are adding a NEWS post to the NEWS page check the NEWS box. If you are adding a post to the EVENTS you need to click the EVENTS check box.
4. Type your body copy
Add an image.
Fist make sure you have the image ready for website use on your computer.
Place the cursor in front of text. See here right in front of the word Write.
Then click the Add Media button
When this window come up you can add the new image in 2 ways
– You can simply drag and drop the image from your computer in finder over this window to load the new image.
– Or Select the Upload Files tab then select the folder your image is in and select the image and then press OPEN
Now the screen will look something like this:
the box of the image you just loaded will be highlighted
Make sure your setting are set to
Alignment: Left
Size: medium
then click Insert into Post
now your page will look something like this
This is to makes sure that you posting is read with a nice layout including an image.
5. Add Header image
Now we select which image you want to use for the header image
That’s the image above the headline on the news page
Scroll down on the POST page until you see the Image box with the blue plus sign button. Press it. Select your image.
Then click the insert button
it will now look like this:
Before you publish
Make sure you have:
- added your head line
- Set the format
- Select your category
- Type your body copy
- Add Header image
Publish
Now you are ready to publish! you are done
// to preview
On a desktop computer: To see your new post simply right click Preview button on your mouse.
On a laptop: You can hold down the Control key on the keyboard and click the Preview button also to get the popup window to show.
This will open a new tab in your web browser
If you click that tab on top it will take you to a page with the new post
To see what it looks like on your NEWS page click the NEWS button in your website menu
You can see the new post here on the left
If you like it you are done. If not you can go back to the edit page and edit it more.
